Barcelona Transfer News: Defender guaranteed at the Nou Camp this summer

BARCELONA will welcome back defender Thomas Vermaelen in the summer after Roma pull the plug on a permanent deal

Barcelona sent Vermaelen on loan to Roma this season.
There is an option for the Serie A side to sign the Belgian on a permanent deal once the transfer window opens.
But Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb claim the Rome club are not interested in keeping the player.
Vermaelen, 31, has played just 11 games for Roma this season, starting six times.
The former Arsenal defender left north London for Barcelona in a £15million deal in August 2014 but dropped out of manager Luis Enrique's plans last summer.

Barcelona are seeking defensive recruits themselves and are unlikely to retain Vermaelen, who has suffered with injury set-backs since arriving from the Premier League.
One saving grace for the centre-back could be that Enrique will quit Barcelona at the end of the season, meaning he has the chance to impress the new boss.
