    Barcelona miss out on bargain buy


     


    Barcelona have missed the opportunity to land a promising young target on the cheap.

    Barcelona had been keeping a watching brief over Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler.

    The 20-year-old could have been available for as little as €8million, as that was all his release clause had been set to.

    But after breaking through into Valencia's first-team squad, Valencia made the move to officially promote him by taking an option to improve Soler's contract.

    He had been on the brink of triggering an automatic appearance related new contract, but with Barcelona's interest, according to Spanish newspaper AS, Valencia 'acted early to ensure his immediate future.

    His new deal now pushed his release clause to €30million.
