Barcelona Announce Andres Iniesta Contract Renewal

It turns out that Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu did re-sign an important player after all. Andres Iniesta has decided to renew with the club he’s known for almost his whole life. It is a contract that likely says that he will end his career as a member of the Catalan kings. Iniesta has played at Barca for 16 seasons dating back to the 2002-03 season. It has now culminated with him becoming the captain of one of the best teams in the world.
Iniesta’s contract status was one of the biggest topics going into the season for Barca. President Bartomeu said on many occasions that a deal was done with his star midfielder. It took some time for it to come to fruition, but the deal was indeed done. The next order of business for Barca is to renew the contract of Lionel Messi. Although it has been a long process, Bartomeu and his staff expect to get a deal done with Messi as soon as possible.

Andres Iniesta has made the second most appearances for Barca over his time with the club. His 639 caps rank him just behind Xavi who holds the record with 767 games. While his goal total isn’t that of a player like Messi (55 career goals) that isn’t what makes Iniesta great. His passing, dribbling skills, and vision made the world-class player that he is. Barcelona fans hope that this magic continues as the season progresses.
“This is a very special day for me, simply because it means I’m staying at my home, where I can continue to dream of achieving great things for this club. It’s where I have grown and developed.”Overall, Barca fans can now relax knowing that Iniesta will stay with the team for a little while longer. The fans certainly appreciate his efforts and hope that it continues for years to come. As he ages, the team must be able to have a plan for the post-Iniesta era. As of now, Iniesta will continue to create at a high rate and play his very best.
