According to reports from Sport newspaper, FC Barcelona would have acquired the services of Brazilian centre-back Marlon Santos da Silva Barbosa with the signing of a five-year deal. The transaction would have been completed last December since the loan deal included a clause in which Barça would have got to pay a two million euros bonus if the 21-year-old had played five matches with the senior squad.
In December, the Globoesporte.com website
informed that Barça had made a 1.5 million euros payment to Fluminense,
with the remaining 500,000 euros due to be paid in June 2017. After this
operation, Marlon signed a five-year contract at the Club facilities as
claimed by Sport, with the company of his father and his agent. Marlon
will continue to be a Barça B player for the remaining of the season and
will take part of some of the first team trainings, with the
possibility of being a member of the senior squad the next season.
It is unknown why the club hasn’t desired
to announce the signing of the youngster as stated by his relatives and
Fluminense. The official version affirms that the club wants to buy the
centre-back but only when his current loan deal is finished.
