Now on loan with Granada from FC Barcelona, midfielder Sergi Samper has this week confirmed he rejected a move to Arsenal last summer.
Samper has given an interview to Granada’s website, and he revealed the approach from the Gunners.
I did not want to listen to [Arsene] Wenger. I told him clearly that I wanted to stay, I wanted to succeed at Barcelona, that I was a big cule, and what would make me happy was succeeding at Barcelona in the future.
21-year-old Samper has struggled to impress at Granada this season.
Having been brought up in the Barcelona academy, Samper has made just 10 starts in 18 games this season.
Granada, meanwhile, are battling relegation from La Liga, having only scored 10 points in 18 matches this season.
They are currently six points from safety, sitting second bottom of the league.
